Recording1 Pay attention to the long vowels at the beginning of the words:

Elend, aber, Übung, Ehre, Ofen, Öl, Igel, Ebene, ihre, ohne, Atem, Ida, oder, Oma

Recording 2 Pay attention to the long vowels in the middle of the words:

Dose, lesen, Liebe, Lüge, Tage, Segen, Magen, rot, Rede, Flöte, gut, Mut, Brot, wohnen

Recording 3 Pairs of words! The first word has a long vowel, the second word a short vowel. Listen to the different sounds of the vowels:

Ofen – offen

Ohr – Ort   

Esel – Essen

bete – Bett

Ihre – immer

Biene – Bitte

Mut – Mund

Sohn – Sonne

Recording 4 Short sentences to listen, read and repeat! The long vowels are marked in bold:

Er kommt nicht. Der Tee ist kalt. Die Uhr ist schön. Der Mann bezahlt das Buch. Immer, wenn Rosa kocht, kommt Peter zum Essen. Diese Blume ist rot.
